Boat Insurance Required: Research Foretells Marine Industry Recovery from Recession

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

British Marine Federation Statistics Highlight Value of Boat Insurance

The British Marine Federation released their Spring 2010 Industry Trend Results last week in a report that will come as a welcome relief to industry professionals and enthusiasts alike. The research suggests that the marine and boating industry has managed to stay above water during the worst of the economic downturn, and is now progressing forward at what is being described as a ‘steady’ pace. But with the statistics suggesting that more crafts are due to return to Britain’s coasts and waterways, boat insurance specialists ‘Insure My Boat’ are highlighting the necessity of effective cover.

36% of the businesses consulted said that marine activity had increased over the last 6 months, as opposed to the 26% who disagreed. While this may seem negligible, it does result in a net balance of +10% which experts are citing as a good indication for continued growth during the second half of the year and into 2011. But while most would agree that the recent figures should be welcomed, it’s feared that an influx of sailors of all kinds could lead to a boost in collisions and organised crime.

David Quick, Director of Insure My Boat welcomed the return of increased opportunities for all in the marine sector, but urged caution in the face of these predictions. He said:

‘This report really does vindicate those industry professionals and enthusiasts who have stood by and supported the marine sector during the difficulties of the past few years. It would therefore be a terrible shame to see those sailors who return excitedly to the water suffer at the hands of marine craft theft or collisions of any kind. That’s why the Insure My Boat team feel that boat insurance is so essential.’

It’s clear that, should crime statistics begin to rise, the commercial marine sector will do everything it can to safeguard the crafts and possessions of private boat owners. The British Marine Federation report denotes an admirable optimism amongst those involved in the sector. As many as 40% of those surveyed viewed the coming six months as having good or excellent prospects, suggesting that criminals face a confident and united industry.

However experts are reminding commercial and private boat owners that only they have the power to truly protect their investments by sourcing effective boat insurance from a provider like Insure My Boat. The recession has reminded many sailors of the importance of protecting what equity they have, regardless of the commodity to which it is tied.

Over and above what the Federation’s report quantifies, many people in the marine and boating industry are speaking of an excitement in the air that tells of better days to come; it would be a shame to miss out on the industry’s exciting recovery due to neglecting to secure adequate and cost effective boat insurance cover. Insure My Boat Encourage Exhibition Visitors To Invest In Boat Insurance

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

The 49th annual Boat and Caravan Show took place between the 23rd and 28th February 2010. The show saw many of the leading boat and caravan retailers exhibiting their latest models, a temptation for any self-confessed boat lover. Insure My Boat want to take the opportunity to advise anyone that purchased a boat at the show to invest in boat insurance before taking it out on the water.

Boat insurance is incredibly important to protect boats both on and off the water from fire, accidental damage, vandalism and theft. Many boat owners spend thousands of pounds so that they can sail, an investment that Insure My Boat think is well worth protecting.

‘At Insure My Boat we have heard many stories where individuals have spent large sums of money on their boat, only for it to be damaged or stolen. As boat insurance is not a necessity in the UK, many owners choose not to cover themselves, leading to them losing considerable amounts of money.’ David Quick, MD.

One of the main reasons why boat owners may not have chosen to cover their boat in the past was because they simply did not know where to turn when it came to purchasing insurance. However, Insure My Boat now offers an easy to use online system that ensures no-one need go without any more.

Their comparison website enables boat owners to access a multitude of quotes that are specially tailored to their requirements, at the push of a button. This ensures that they only pay the most competitive prices for the level of cover that they need. Boat owners that would prefer to speak to an employee need not be left out either, as they can call the telephone number on the website and discuss the same great deals with a knowledgeable professional.

It is really simple to browse this vast range of quotes, boat owners only need to fill out a short form specifying the type of boat they own, where it is kept when it is not in use, its cruising range and some generic personal details. With this system those seeking insurance need never fill out more than one form or wait for insurance companies to call back with policy details.

For more information about the range of boat insurance policies that Insure My Boat has to offer, visit their website. To discuss requirements in more detail, boat owners are encouraged to contact a member of their team via phone or by filling out their online contact form.

Insure My Boat: Insurance Is Imperative No Matter What The Cost Of Your Boat

Yacht, Houseboat Or Speedboat; Boat Insurance Could Help To Protect Your Investment

Only this month a houseboat moored on the river Thames went up on the market for a jaw-dropping £1million. Measuring an impressive 1,388 sq ft, the boat is almost double the cost of apartments in the same area.

Whilst many boat owners do not possess such an expensive vessel, one boat insurance provider feels that it is important to encourage all sailors to invest in boat insurance. Whether a yacht, canal boat, speedboat or dinghy it is essential that suitable insurance is purchased to protect it both on and off the water.

‘We understand that boat owners use their vessels for a variety of different purposes and not one boat is the same. For this reason we offer competitively priced, tailored boat insurance policies at just a click of a button. No boat owner needs to go uninsured again.’ David Quick, MD.

One of the primary reasons why boat owners may choose not to invest in insurance is that it can be relatively difficult to find, compared to other varieties such as, car and home insurance.

Whilst insurance is not a requirement in the UK, it is necessary in order to be legally registered to sail upon the British Waterways. Even more importantly it can help to protect against accidental damage, vandalism and other instances where damage could be caused. With boating becoming an increasingly expensive past-time, Insure My Boat have created an innovative system that allows owners to quickly and efficiently access tailored boat insurance quotations.

Their service is based primarily online. Visiting their website, boat owners can access quotes by filling out a simple online form. Insure My Boat will then present the user with a wide selection of quotations that are tailored to the exact details that were provided.

For those customers that would prefer to take a more personal approach, Insure My Boat offer this too. Their team are on hand to take calls from potential clients and they are able to provide the same comprehensive quotes that can be found on their website.

Whichever option the boat owner chooses, Insure My Boat hope that their service will take the stress out of purchasing insurance. Gone are the days of searching through multiple websites and awaiting calls from insurance providers, now boat owners can purchase boat insurance and be out on the water within the same day.

Whether in possession of a dinghy or a £1million houseboat, Insure My Boat welcomes boat owners to request a quotation by filling out their simple online form. Alternatively, to contact a member of their team call 0845 450 5126.
